The teachers at Sego Lily decided that Emily was the perfect person to receive this award. Here is why:

"Emily Heaps is a fighter. She has had constant trials throughout her life, however, because of her strong will and determination, Emily is a successful student who inspires her teachers and fellow classmates at Sego Lily. As a young child, Emily's parents were faced with a very difficult situation of administering medication that they knew would cause Emily to go deaf. In addition, they agonized as Emily suffered through two bone marrow transplants. Emily works twice as hard as everyone else. That is why she will be successful in life! Emily, we love and admire you, for you are a champion, a fighter, and a honored student at Sego Lily."

What sweet words from the teachers and staff that have helped Emily through her years in elementary school! Emily, you truly are a champion and your family is so very proud of you!
