Jac's cheering squad!

This race showed the teams who they are up against... watch out, Jac is on FIRE :)
Look at her go!
She ran an AMAZING race finishing in 19:44 taking 7th place overall!

Grandpa and Grandma Heaps gave her big hugs of congratulations

Grandma and Grandpa Whiting, Davin, Nicki and Aunt Amber were there along with Aunt Debbie and Melissa(they got away before we got a picture!)

Grandpa even wore his new Lehi Pioneers hat :)

A lady in our ward came up and told Matt and I she was shocked to see another side of our personalities. She told us, "You are so timid and shy, I saw another side of you today... now I have a lot of 'dirt' to tell everyone :)"
How can you sit still and be quiet when your daughter is running in a race? Good thing Jac doesn't mind our cheering :) I don't think I have EVER been described as timid and shy before. We had a good laugh! I guess we blew our cover!

Way to go Jac!

Yep, it's the first day of school!
Why not start off with a nice family breakfast... yes, we have a sit down breakfast EVERY morning (Don't you?)
Introducing the most ADORABLE children in the WHOLE world!
As you can tell, they are also the most GOOFY children in the world too! Jac is even wearing her "duct tape" shoes to prove it :)
Emily is in 3rd Grade with Miss Pence
Jac is a big FRESHMAN at Lehi Junior High
Thomas is in 6th grade with Mrs. Ahlstrom

hmm... what should I do with all my QUIET time??
maybe I'll get my bon bon's out and watch a movie or two...

Jac's first Cross Country meet

Lehi vs. Westlake

Jac and Min are all smiles before the big race... They hid their nervousness well :)
It's their first race running for Lehi High School! Yes, Jac is a FRESHMAN!
This is on the sleeve on their team shirts... thanks to Jac!
During practice this summer they decided to use weeds they found on the side of the road as MOTIVATION?! Yep, that's my daughter, she even finds ways to make weeds motivating! So motivating in fact, that the team shirts are going to have a weed on the side! They told their coach "Thanks for the 'weed' Coach!" He quickly told them NOT to mention it :) especially not at school! hee hee
Jac stayed behind 3 girls from Westlake for the first while then turned it on during the last 1/2 of the run.
It's hard to see the girls behind Jac because she took quite the lead during the last mile. I drew an arrow to point them out...
coming in the last stretch
Jac came in 1st place overall with a time of 20:39. All the boys on the team helped cheer her in. It was so fun to watch!
Way to do your best Jac!

Murray Max

The team played in the pre-season Murray Max tournament
The boys look really good this year... especially Thomas of course! Hey, what are moms for? ;)
Here's the team decked out in their new uniforms:
Connor Smith, Nick, Rylee Russell, Zac Peterson, CJ Jeppson, Ethan, Ben Whatcott, Clay Alger, Mason Draper, Thomas, Chris Kauffman, Nacho, Jacob Sumner, Mark and Chris Whatcott

Thomas plays middle defense (I think thats what it's called) He really is amazing to watch. He makes it very tough for any ball to get passed!
The team won 1 out of 3 games. They played against some really tough teams and fought every second! We were so impressed with how hard they worked.
Way to go ARSENAL!

Trafalga fun!

Yes, my honey is HOME!! We were very excited to be able to spend the day with him after being in the DR Congo for 11 days... I can't get enough of my sweetie...
So, we decided to spend it playing at Trafalga! We enjoyed miniature golf, riding the race cars, climbing the rock wall and of course... Laser tag!
Fun times :)

Grandpa is 70?!

It is VERY hard to believe that Grandpa Whiting is 70 years old. Why is it so hard to believe? The kids said it perfectly over a yummy dinner of meatloaf, potatoes and salad. Here are just a few:
  • Grandpa never LETS you win at games he's a little competitive :)
  • Grandpa LOVES to be with his family
  • Grandpa always SUPPORTS us in our activities (this is why we gave him a Lehi Pioneers hat of course!)
  • Grandpa is a very HARD WORKER
  • Grandpa loves to GIVE in any way he can!
  • Grandpa loves to TEASE and have FUN
  • Grandpa acts like a KID :) hey, it keeps life interesting right?!
We topped off our meal with a family favorite, Chocolate cake (with pudding and chocolate chips and cream cheese frosting), ice cream and chocolate fudge sauce.
Can he blow them out?
I think Grandpa had a moment of reflection as he looked at the 70!!
Don't worry Dad, it's been a wonderful 70 years!
Thank goodness for strong boys like Thomas and Davin to help him out :)
We asked Grandpa what he wanted to do for his special day; he jokingly said,"Costco" SO, that's what we did. We walked around while the kids played a game or two of "Wheres Waldo"
FUN TIMES!
Happy Birthday Grandpa :)

Putting for Kids

Primary Children's asked Emily to be part of "Putting for Kids" this year at the Homestead golf course in Midway. It is a charity Smiths food stores put on each year. Last year they made $500,000.
Each child teamed up with a pro golfer and played 6 holes on the putting green. It was just like a miniature golf course with sand traps and all.
Emily's "pro" was Rod Zundell from KSL Channel 5 news. He is a really fun guy. Emily enjoyed his teasing.
Emily won a Nintendo DS! "Wow Mom, this is like CHRISTMAS, I have always wanted a DS!"
"Can we do this next year too?!"
Emily loved being on the news with the REAL soccer Lion named Leo. She told him all about her dog named Leo of course!
It was a great day for golfing and a great way to help out the hospital we LOVE!

They say it's your Birthday...

Matt is now 38 years old!
He came into the kitchen to get his daily breakfast, Dee's cereal of course, and Emily had put 3 candles on one side and 8 candles on the other (since there wasn't enough room for 38!)
It was a great way to start the day!
Matt celebrated with grilled salmon and a cake from Dipidee's, (AMAZING)thanks to Uncle Joe!
Happy Birthday to a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend!
Joe has always been such a great brother! Thanks for stopping by :)
