Thomas' 5k Fun Run

Often times when people talk about Scouts earning their Eagle, the credit is given to the Mom and Dad for all their hard work.
Yes, Mom and Dad have helped Thomas along the way but I can honestly say that Thomas has taken his scouting into his own hands and has made this eagle project his own! He has shown great responsibility as he has just finished the first phase of his project:
a 5k Fun Run/Walk for Courage Reins; a non-profit dedicated to helping people with disabilities through therapeutic horseback riding.

These are a few of the amazing ladies from Courage Reins who came to help out with the race.

It was a beautiful Saturday morning. We had about 50 people show up for the fun :)

There was a kids 100 meter dash which 4 year old Chase Jones proudly won 1st place in his age group! His mom Leesa, won 1st place in the 5k...must run in the family ;)

Emily decided to run in her crocs! She ran the dash winning 3rd place overall!
She wasn't through...she ran the 5k and came in 1st place for her age! Brother Crandall in our ward said he had a piece of "humble pie" while running this race. He explained "Emily passed me 5 times!"

Dave and Abi came to support Thomas and they took 1st place for their age category too!

We appreciate all the support the Heaps family showed by coming out so early on a Saturday morning.

Thanks to EVERYONE who came to support Thomas and this great organization!

The money earned will go towards the materials needed to help build a fence as well as other much needed projects for their property.
Now for phase two...the actual work at Courage Reins :)
