Pumpkin Fun!

On Monday, Matt took the day off with the Kids and we had a great day together as a family! We found an awesome pumpkin patch where everyone got to pick their own pumpkin from the ground!
We took them home and while the kids carved and painted, Matt made fresh pumpkin soup that was very tasty and I made pumpkin cookies that were pretty good too!

Emily thinks that I am pretty silly for leaving my pumpkin plain. She is trying to convince me to let her make it look better! We know the kids all got the creative gene and it didn't come from me! Thank goodness for Dad!!

So do you have a good pumpkin soup recipe? Brandon has been wanting me to figure it out since he went on his mission. But I will admit it scares me a little. It looks like you had a fun day of it!

Sounds like a great tradition to start! Matt taking the day off makes it almost seem like a holiday. Celebrating your family being together, does'nt get better than that! Especially, with Matt making dinner AND being the "creative" one with the pumpkins! I laughed, Lou is the creative one in our family,(or i use that same excuse!)..what happened to us Jill? Did it all go to Amber---OF COURSE!!:) Or Jeremy, he puts me to shame too. Oh, well...we have many talents, they are just what you call those very special "hidden" talents.:)
I love you!! jolyn

Wow! How fun, Jill! Thanks for the compliment, JoLyn but I actually was very grateful for President Uchtdorf's RS talk on creating. His list of ways that we create keeps all of us in the 'creating' crowd...even me! Perhaps we all think it is everyone else that is creative because others create in different ways than us. It is a very unique and awesome talk.

Aaaah, sisters think alike. Jeff ALWAYS does the messy carving at our house. I actually don't mind plain pumpkins. I think they look cool...BUT, not as fun for the kids!

I am taking my kids to a pumpkin patch next Thursday. I hope we have as picturesque a visit! Creative or not, we ain't carvin''em in class! Though honestly I know my kids would have fun, which makes me happy AND they ARE amazing cleaners! The other day we built terrariums and one girl stuck the broom in the sink to "make it into a mop". Too bad our custodian doesn't have a sense of humor.
